Senior Business Analyst

Summary Description

The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for implementation and day-to-day support of company application systems including those supporting administrative functions (Finance, HR, Legal), Development, and Quality. The position reports to the VP, IT and will work closely with all members of IT and its customers. The successful candidate will have a proven history of implementing and managing applications in a regulated Life Sciences company and will ensure that Geron takes advantage of the functionality of the systems by providing business analysis and process engineering. The successful candidate will also have intimate knowledge of an IT Quality System including its interface with SOX and GXP regulations.

The successful candidate will be able to work under limited supervision while designing and implementing new application environments. In addition to application support, the candidate will provide level general user support. We look for an enthusiastic, friendly person who values teamwork and customer support.

The successful candidate would have completed the following goals in the first year:

  • Roll out and support Concur Invoice, working with the Finance department
  • Roll out and support Veeva Quality Docs, working with the Quality Assurance department
  • Assist with the development of efficient system lifecycle procedures for the IT Quality System that supports SOX standards, FDA regulations, and good business practice
  • Assist with the Company’s migration to and support of cloud-based applications, including Office 365 and Box

A qualified candidate would have the following experience:

  • Business Analysis in a Life Sciences company
  • Project management of at least two enterprise applications
  • Application design, management, and end-user support of cloud-based applications
  • System and data migration of server-centric applications
  • Construction of SOX and FDA quality system frameworks
  • Design and implementation of system lifecycle procedures supporting IT systems
  • Communication and interaction with senior management

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage application and system deployment projects, including the projects listed above and others as assigned
  • Provide business analysis to support all company functional group application implementations
    • Understand strategic objectives and create business cases
    • Elicit business requirements, including technical, functional and process requirements
    • Transform requirements into a technical solution
    • Manage the implementation of the solution
    • Provide on-going technical support
  • Assist with the development IT streamlined system lifecycle procedures that support good business practices, GXP and SOX compliance
    • Develop efficient requirements and design procedures
    • Develop effective testing methodologies to support project implementation
    • Develop IT project management processes
  • Support technical aspects of financial and purchasing business applications
  • Support other applications as assigned
  • Provide technical support for workstation systems, including hardware, operating system and applications as needed
  • Develop and maintain department administrative procedures
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
