Director/Senior Director, Financial Reporting and Compliance

Responsibilities

  • Direct compliance for external financial and regulatory reporting (federal, state and local regulations, including tax, SEC and Nasdaq) through accurate and timely filings
  • Organize and maintain internal regulatory filing calendar taking into consideration planned corporate events and communicate associated deadlines with all involved parties
  • Effectively partner with financial operations, investor relations and corporate legal teams to ensure external financial and regulatory reporting is complete, correct and aligns with other corporate presentations, press releases, etc.
  • Draft and review disclosures incorporating input from all reviewers and obtaining final approval
  • Productively and efficiently interface and coordinate activities of external auditors and attorneys to enable timely filings; serve as primary contact for external service providers
  • Perform financial planning and analysis (FP&A) including budgeting, forecasting, business/financial spending analysis, internal financial reports, cash forecasts and working collaboratively with functional leaders to generate accurate and timely budget and forecasts
  • Build strong working relationships with all functional leaders to provide strategic and analytical decision support
  • Accountable for the company’s internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure conformance and compliance with US GAAP and other statutory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Identify and resolve accounting and/or financial technical issues including research for tax, SEC and FASB compliance
  • Regularly interact with the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee, including organizing and preparing materials for Audit Committee meetings
  • Organize, coordinate and assist with execution of financing projects, such as capital raising, M&A, joint ventures, etc.
  • Other financial projects as needed
  • Supervise, coach and mentor one direct report.

Requirements

Education

  • Requires a BS/BA in accounting or related skills
  • CPA earned through public accounting firm experience

Work Experience

  • Minimum 7 years experience in accounting, finance, financial analysis, tax or SEC reporting with at least 4 years in a public company and time in public accounting. Biotechnology experience a plus.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Solid understanding of SEC reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Proven track record with SOX 404 compliance
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Solid project management ability to coordinate and manage multiple parties to meet deadlines
